Terms of service

Last updated 2026-08-29. Using stripyhorse.io, the API, the SDKs or the CLI means you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.

The service

Stripy Horse converts, renders and verifies ZPL label data and provides virtual Zebra printers for testing, through a website, an HTTP API, SDKs and a command-line tool. It is operated by Ben Faerber ("we"). It is a developer tool: you are responsible for checking that the labels you generate print and scan correctly on your own hardware before relying on them.

Accounts and keys

You need to be able to enter a contract to hold an account. Keep your API keys secret; anything done with your key counts as done by you. Tell us if a key leaks and revoke it from your account page, which takes effect immediately.

Plans and billing

The free tier costs nothing and needs no card. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe at the price shown on the pricing page when you subscribe; existing subscriptions keep their price if the list price changes. Each plan has a monthly API call quota and a printer allowance. Quotas are soft: going over sends you a warning and keeps working, and only sustained use far past the quota is refused with a clear error.

Cancellation and refunds

Cancel any time from the billing portal on your account page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for and then drops to the free tier; nothing is deleted at that moment, and data beyond the free tier's limits is kept read-only for 30 days. Payments already made are not refunded pro rata, with one exception: if you upgraded and the service did not work for you, ask within 14 days and we refund that month in full.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to send anyone else's personal data through the public demo printer, to probe or overload the platform, to resell access, or to build a competing hosted service on top of the free tier. Rate limits and free-tier budgets exist to keep the tools free for everyone; working around them is not allowed.

Your data

Your label data stays yours. We process it only to produce the output you asked for, as described in the privacy policy, and claim no rights in it. Output the service produces for you (ZPL, images, previews) is yours to use however you like.

Availability and support

We aim to keep the service up around the clock but do not promise a service level on the self-serve plans; deployments and maintenance can briefly interrupt it. Support is by email and the contact form, answered by the developer. Self-hosted deployments are covered by their own agreement.

Warranty and liability

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (misprinted labels, undelivered shipments, lost profits), and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes and termination

We may change these terms; material changes are announced by email to account holders at least 14 days before they take effect. We may suspend accounts that break the acceptable-use rules. You can close your account at any time by asking.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Stripy Horse is operated, and disputes are resolved in the courts there.
